2. Jaguars – OT Luke Joeckel

Texas A&M Junior

Measurables: 6’6″ 306 lbs 34 1/4 arm length

NFL Combine: 5.25 40-yard 27 bench reps

NFL comparison: Joe Thomas

Joeckel was the favorite for first-overall for much of the offseason, but was apparently passed over sometime in the past weeks for Fisher by Kansas City’s scouts.

Possessing prototypical size and build, Joeckel is about as solid a tackle as you can find — even practicing every day against Denver’s star linebacker Von Miller. He’s extremely durable, as he hasn’t missed a game in his collegiate career. Overall, he’s an extremely effective blocker with excellent footwork and shows little tendency to grab hold of linemen.

Some criticism of Joeckel revolved around a purported lack of nastiness in his play style and a poor job of blocking in open spaces when asked to block on the move.
